CEVO-A Season 2 Playoffs Week 1
After a rocky season we finally made it into the playoffs with a 5-3 record. 2 of those losses were in overtime (MugNMouse,Madcast), and 1 loss was to skull gaming when our starter fell asleep with his cell turned off. We were the most offensive team in all of central with 117 rounds won, but only placed 16th out of the 24 playoff teams. Seeing how we lost in Overtime 3 times this season, our pre-season + 2 regular season OT's, we knew that it was not a situation we would want to get ourselves into.

For the first round we were up against Disturbing the Peace (dtp), an Atlantic team which is known to be pretty good. Due to scheduling issues they were not able to play on default date/time so we reschedule to play a day early. Unfortunately with some of the bed times some of our younger players have we couldn't play as late as they wanted us to. So they decided to take the chance and play us a man down for the first full half of the game. Should have been cake right? LOL, they had an awesome defense which we had trouble breaking. 4v5, they finished the first half with 2 rounds on us. (5-7) It probably didn't help that I only had like 1 kill that first half. Anyhow, their 5th showed up and we knew we really had to step it up big time. After a clutch save by Doyle, we tied it up 12-12 forcing the game into OT.

Unfortunately, OT was the scenario we wanted to avoid. We knew that if we took 2 rounds on attack we would have this. However, getting those 2 rounds is a differnet story since we lost 4v5 lol. Doyle and Eagle stepped it up, and we took the first OT 2-1, and then won the next two in the second OT. Taking the win 16-13! Doyle takes MVP for making 2 clutch saves, 1 to tie the match and 1 in OT. GG dtp, GJ AP! Next week we face off agianst the no.1 seed in CEVO-A, WAS.

Recruiting for COD4
Right now we are in between seasons for most of the COD4 Leagues, and after having a successful Season 1, we are hoping to improve our lineup for Season 2. We have also decided to create a second team dedicated to CAL-Open and TWL, while most of the original squad will be focusing on CAL-Main and CEVO. For the Main/CEVO squad we are primarily looking for specialists who are amazing with the rifle, or amazing with the sub machine guns. For the Open team we’re primarily just looking for strong all around players, with the potential to be called up to the Main team if needed. We want to finalize our next season’s squads soon, so we can start training as soon as possible. Please read the recruiting forums for more information.

CAL Playoffs Finals Auphan vs Final Destination

It has been a long ride, and we’ve finally reached our final destination (lol). Who would have thought that we’d make it to the playoff finals on our first season? Throughout playoffs we were pretty much the underdog and predicted to lose almost every match. Our final match was against Final Destination, FD (aka Unreasonable Ownage, UO) who had easily smashed all their opponents with an undefeated record of 10-0. If I was a betting man, my money would have been on FD given their stats compared to ours. Unfortunately for cod4 fans, this match was not shout-casted. Every map was pretty much down to the wire, and other then Vacant, neither team were able to hold onto a lead.

Their first map pick was Crossfire, and luckily for us Crossfire was one of our favorite maps. This map was a nail biter as both teams kept trading rounds on both sides of the map. We only won that map on the very last round, making it 13-11. After beating FD on their map we had a huge amount of confidence as it was time for our map pick. We decided to gamble and pick Vacant, a very one-sided map where whichever team can pull off the most rounds on defense wins. Unfortunately, this is one of the few times which confidence didn’t really help much. The first half started off poorly for us with us only taking 3 rounds (3-8), then on the second half we were only able to pull off 6 rounds before they sealed the deal, giving them the map 9-13. The tiebreaker map decided by cal was Strike, which is another very good map for us. Like Crossfire, rounds were being traded back and forth on the first half with FD taking the lead 5-7. Going into the second half I was kind of confident that we had a good chance of winning since defense was our stronger side here. We built up momentum by taking the first few rounds finishing with a 13-8 win, making us the Pacific conference champions!

At the end of the match there was some discussion about who was the game MVP. The most obvious candidates were Sugar who basically had a very strong offence game. Upon reviewing the demos, I would have to say neither of them deserved the title of MVP for this match, as the entire team kicked ****. Everyone did work, and contributed to the win. There was no clutch wins, as most of the winning rounds were done as a team. This is evident when you look at the kill count as we had 3 players with 50+ kills, and the remaining 2 at around 40ish. However if someone were to hold a gun to me and forced me to pick an MVP I would have to give it to Waldoh. Given his recent family loss, it is hard for most to imagine how hard it is to focus and put in the practice time for the team, not to mention he was a beast on defense for Strike. As throughout the whole season, we were predicted to lose once again, and yet we prevailed. Against all the odds, we had an amazing season by the entire team (Sugar, Phallus, Waldoh, Anthony, X-Saint, Downtown, PitViper, Stonebender, myself). GG’s FD, Amazing Job AP!!!

CAL Playoffs Semi-Finals vs Exigent
For the semi-finals we were matched up against Lousy Heros (LH), formally known as Exigent. LH had a big upset against ArenaGaming in the Quarter’s last week so we knew that this match wasn’t going to be easy. After playing this match, I can say that they played a lot better than even I had anticipated. For the Semi’s and Final’s CAL elected to go with a best of 3 maps format. We decided to pick Strike, while LH chose Vacant, and the tie-breaker was set to Crash. The entire match was played on our LA server so we gave them side selection for their own map as well. On the first map, Strike, we tied it on offence 6-6, then on defense we tied it again 6-6, forcing us into overtime. In overtime we took the game 4-1. Then on the second map, Vacant, we started off on defense and tied 6-6 again, but on offence we easily took it 7-1. The game MVP would have to be Rizen with a few clutch saves and an ace, Anthony, Rizen and Phallus lead the team with 40+ kills this match and honorable mention for Sugar so he doesn’t get all emo. GJ AP!!! GG’s LH even with the dispute and all. It looks like we're up against Unreasonable Ownage in the finals.

CAL Playoffs Quarter Finals vs onFyre
Going into this quarter-final match against onFyre, even though we were higher seed, we were slated the major underdog by the community. With some predicting us to lose by as much as 2-13, it was going to be an interesting match. We were pretty confident going into this defensive sided map that if we took at least 5 rounds on attack we’d win this as we’ve never lost more than 5 rounds on defense to any other team, including cal-main teams, when we had all our starters on. We were the home team so we were “supposed” to get server selection. However, once they arrived on our server they noticed that it was a Dallas server, and thus used the “server is not geographically located near our conference” card. Even though their average ping on our server was better than ours, they brought an admin and forced us to play on their server. On top of that, they chose to keep side selection as well. So after wasting 45 minutes dealing with the admin and being forced to play on their server AND not have side selection we were determined to kick some ****. On attack we took 7 rounds (7-5), which pretty much sealed the win for us. The second half was pretty easy as we took the game 6-3, making it a 13-8 win. Sugar lead the team with a 2 bomb, and Anthony right behind him with 19 kills. GFJ AP!!!

CAL Week 8 vs The SunTzu
For the last week of the regular CAL season we were assigned to play The SunTzu (stz) on crash. They were a 6-1 team, ranked no.3 in the conference. To add more pressure, winning this match would gaurantee us a spot in the playoffs. Going into crash we knew that it would be key to take as many rounds on offence as we can get since this is a defensive map. We got lucky and ended the first half 6-6, then for the second half we took it 8-4. Winning the match 14-10, GG's SunTzu, GJ AP! Sugar and Anthony lead the team with kills. We finished the regular season as rank 3 (6-2) in our conference. We are looking forward to the playoffs.

CAL Week 6 vs Arena Gaming
This week we faced off against one of the toughest teams in our Conference, Arena Gamining on Strike. They currently have a 4-1 record with their only loss to UO, just like us. Going into this match we knew it will be a close one. We also took a gamble by making some last second line-up changes the day of the match due to some unforseen circumstances. It was also the debut of one of our new players, Rizen. We started off on offence only taking 4 rounds as we just couldn't make anything happen. At the start of the second half we didnt do much better either. The lineup finally started working together bringing the match 11-12 for AG. Unfortunately for us we lost the last round, losing 11-13. Candysick and Rizen lead the team with kills. NT AP, GG's AG! We are now 4-2 in CAL, looking forward to our next match.

CAL Week 4 & 5 vs UO & Dsc
Last week we were up against Unreasonable Ownage, currently ranked 1st in Pacific Conference (5-0). Of all the maps we had to play them on, it was Pipeline which is one of the most lopsided maps in the game. As well, we just suck big time on that map! Unfortunately for us, we started off on offense and lost the first half 2-10. For defense we were took it 8-4, resulting in a 10-14 loss. This week we played Desecration on Vacant, another 3-1 team. Vacant is one of our favorite maps, so we were looking forward to this. We took the first half 7-5, and the second half 7-5, winning 14-10. Sugar, (Candystick) somehow lead the team on kills. Must have been a bad day for the rest of the guys… lol. GJ AP, GG DSC. We are now 4-1 in CAL
